President Xuan Fuzhen Met with a Delegation Led by Bill Shorten, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra, Australia

On December 7, a delegation led by The Honorable Professor Bill Shorten, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra, Australia, visited our university. President Xuan Fuzhen met with the guests, accompanied by Vice President Yan Haifeng.

Xuan Fuzhen extended a warm welcome to the delegation and systematically reviewed the course of cooperation between the two universities. He noted that the joint Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, launched since the initiation of cooperation between ECUST and the University of Canberra, has become an important bond for educational cooperation and exchanges between China and Australia. He expressed the hope that both sides will take the 25th anniversary of the China-Australia MBA program as a new starting point, further integrate disciplinary strengths and professional resources, continuously enrich the substance of cooperation, expand areas of collaboration, and elevate bilateral cooperation to higher levels and broader fields.


Bill Shorten expressed his gratitude to the university for the warm reception. He pointed out that the China-Australia MBA program is an iconic achievement of cooperation between the two universities and has built a high-quality platform for cultivating business elites with an international vision. He looked forward to the two sides continuing to work hand in hand, integrating cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence into the curriculum system, continuously consolidating the quality of program development, promoting in-depth win-win results between the two universities in education and scientific research, and jointly building a new model of cooperation between Chinese and Australian universities.

During the visit, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including deepening educational cooperation, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, and strengthening research collaboration. Also accompanying the delegation were Professor Uwe Dulleck, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Government and Law at the University of Canberra, Professor Riyana Miranti, Associate Dean of the Faculty, and other representatives. Present at the meeting from ECUST were directors from relevant departments including the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges and the Business School.
